The results of the well known World Press Photo photo contest have been released.

As expected it’s a conflict picture that won the 1st prize, but unfortunately for some bookmakers who were forecasting the results, there is no child victim in this picture (but they are present in some other pics).
For me the 1st prize picture is not the strongest of the year / of this conflict, but it show some important event of 2006. These wealthy young people in their nice car in front of bombed buildings show the deep division in today’s lebanese society.

Conflict pictures are of course well represented in the selected pictures/story and there is also the famous headbutting from the last Football/Soccer Worldcup.
