Nigerian Delta and Congo at the Crossroads

This week I’d like to show you 2 photo essays related to 2 african countries.

Congo at the Crossroads is related to the forgotten conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (previously Zaïre). Since 1998 an estimated of 4 000 000 people have lost their lives due to this conflict, this is almost 2 times more victims every year than the 2004’s tsunami in Asia.

Delta is related to the situation in the Niger Delta in south of Nigeria.
This oil-producing region generate huge amount of money, but only a small part is used by and for the people living there, it is estimated that 70% of this wealth is “lost” due to corruption.
If the population doesn’t see the money (most of them have less than 1$ a day to survive), they can see and feel the impact on their environment.
